KIDNAPPING!!  MRS. SWENSON WROTE

 

    When Mrs. Swenson came into room 400 this morning, Miss Frizzle was GONE!!   Where she should have been, there was a ransom note.   The note said:

            " Don't look for the friz!!  And don't call the police!!!   I will call later with the

 ransom demand.       (signed)  The Friznapper"

 

   Some clues were found near the ransom note.   They included sand, skin, hair, white fabric, a feather and a white powder.   Fingerprints were found on the ransom note, and of course the writing of the ransom note can be examined microscopically.   Who took her?   Where did they take her?   And how can we get her back?

     At each lab table you will find some known samples of sand, skin, white powder, fabric, feathers, and hair.   You will get one very small sample of the clues for only a very short time to compare to the known samples.   It is very important that you make careful observations of the known samples to determine the best way to identify them.   You should also ask the block teachers what they know about the crime.   Using what you have found out about the clues, you will develop a plot of what you think happened, identifying the characters, any foreshadowing, the rising action and climax.   Resolve the story if you can.   This may be written as a story, poem or TV show.    Time's wasting!!  We better get started figuring out the clues.

 

DIRECTIONS:

   Each lab table has slides of the known samples.   Each team member should become an expert on one or more kinds of known samples.   They should write their observations below.   It is important to have the observations recorded as each piece of evidence will be at your table for only a few minutes.   Your observations will make it faster to narrow the search.  Each person at the table should be able to compare and confirm the identity of the clue.
